Celebrated jewellery designer Jan Logan, founder of the eponymous luxury brand, has died aged 86.

Born in Narrabri, NSW, Logan raised her family on a farm before relocating to Sydney, where she launched her jewellery business in October 1989 at the age of 50, opening her first boutique in Double Bay’s Royal Arcade.

The business later expanded nationally and today operates stores in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Her designs, known for fusing classic forms with a contemporary edge, garnered a loyal following and were worn by figures across film, television and music, including Rose Byrne, Taylor Swift and Tina Arena.

A tribute shared on the official Jan Logan Instagram account featured a black-and-white portrait of the designer, marking her life as “1939–2026”.

“Jan’s country upbringing fed her imagination and nurtured her pragmatic and indomitable spirit,” the family said.

She also became a longstanding supporter of the local screen and creative industries, with her designs frequently appearing on red carpets and in film and television productions.

In 1997, her youngest son, Angus Logan, joined the business as MD, helping guide its growth and long-term succession.

“While we mourn the loss of a visionary and beloved matriarch, we celebrate the enduring beauty she left behind – a legacy that will continue for years to come,” concluded the statement.

Logan is survived by her three sons: Angus, Michael and Andrew.
